Manners…. why learn them?

You know the saying, “The acorn doesn’t fall from the tree.” Or how about “they only mimick what they see, not what you tell them”…. ladies, that is so true!!

With this in mind, Tori and I will begin our journey in Manners! I need them, therefore she needs them. This is the golden nuggets that we redeemed from our first lesson…

“What are manners and why do we need them?”

In Luke 2:52, it says the “And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and with people.” From this Scripture, we know that Jesus grew in physical ways as we do. Jesus grew in knowledge and in His relationship with His family and friends, and He grew closer to God.

Then we see in Luke 6:31, “Treat others the same way you want them to treat you.” Therefore, Jesus learned and practiced the principle for using good manners.

From this, what are manners? Well, manners is something we need to learn. Manners are a way that we can show others that we care about them through our words or by our actions. Good manners make us and others feel happy and comfortable with one another. Good manners helps us to be a better person and to develop good social skills.

This takes me back remembering my grandma telling me about the “Golden Rule.”

“Treat others the same way you want them to treat you.” ~ Luke 6:31 (NASB)

“Manners are the happy way of doing things.” ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson.
