Spice Ornaments

These spice ornaments are so aromatic! You can’t help but think of Christmas time!!

Make a spice ornament in the shape of a present (or a treasure chest). Once it is dried and cooled, paint on the Scripture reference “Ephesians 5:1-2”

“Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children;and walk in love, just as Christ also loved you and gave Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma.” Ephesians 5:1-2 (NASB)

Recipe for Spice Ornaments:

3/4 cup ground cinnamon
1 cup applesauce
2 tablespoons ground nutmeg
1 tablespoon ground cloves
1 straw
1/8 inch or 1/4 inch ribbon

Combine spices and applesauce and mix until well blended. Mixture should be stiff. Roll out to a 1/4 inch thickness on was paper. Using a small or medium size cookie cutter, cut the desired shapes. Peel away the excess dough and re-roll as necessary. Use the straw to poke a hole at the center top to weave the ribbon through for hanging. Let the ornaments dry uncovered for 2 to 3 days turning them over several times during the drying process.

Once the ornaments have dried and ribbons are tied on, then paint them. Place them in a sealed plastic bag until ready to use. (My ornaments we made last still are still smelling good this year!)

MAGNETS: Follow the above instructions, however do NOT poke a hole in the ornament. Instead, when it fully dries, apply stick-on magnet to the back.

These make perfect gifts for family and firends!!
