Let us look at what the definition is according to the Noah Webster Dictionary 1828:

“The state of being liable to answer for one’s conduct; liability to give account, and to receive reward or punishment for actions.”

Do you have an accountability partner? Do you need it? Satan is working overtime to create more temptation in the world today. He wants nothing more than to see you fall, to see your testinmony ripped from you. “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.” ~ John 10:10 (NASB).

We should want as much help as possible knowing that we are in a battle against the spiritual forces of darkness. Paul tells us in Ephesians that we must be equipped with ALL the power that God supplies to fight this battle, “Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.” Eph 6:13 (KJV).  Notice that Paul says, “that you MAY be able to withstand.” He understood that even if we equip oursleves with everything God has to offer in defense of evil that we are human and we may not be able to always resist the temptation thrown our way. The phrase “may be able” is from a Greek word “dunamai” which means “possibly able.” So, what more can we do to stand against the wiles of the devil? What can we do to over temptation? You know without a shadow of a doubt temptation will come.

Satan knows our weaknesses and he knows when we are vulnerable. He knows when a married couple is arguing. He knows when parents punish their children, and the child might be resentful. He knows these things aren’t going well at work and remind us of that bar that is on the way home. Where do we find help? We want to do what’s right in God’s eyes and yet, we are weak humans. What are we to do?

Proverbs 27:17 says “Iron sharpens iron; so a man sharpens his friend’s countenance.” A friend’s countenance is a look or expression that indicates encouragement. When is the last time you had a friend call you just to ask how you are doing? When is the last time you called a friend and asked her if she needed to talk? Encouragement from a friend are sometimes the missing ingredients in fighting the battle against satan.

The writer of Hebrews summed it up when he said, “Having therefore, brothers, boldness to [1] enter into the holy place by the blood of Jesus, by the way which he dedicated for us, a new and living way, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh; and having a great priest over the house of God, [2] let’s draw near with a true heart in fullness of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and having our body washed with pure water,[3] let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering; for he who promised is faithful. [4] Let us consider how to provoke one another to love and good works, not forsaking our own assembling together, as the custom of some is, but exhorting one another; and so much the more, as you see the Day approaching. [5] For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remains no more a sacrifice for sins.”

[1] Begin each day walking with our best friend and Lord, Jesus Christ;

[2] With an open, loving heart that Jesus provided, draw near to friends;

[3] Remembering our confession of faith to the One who can change lives;

[4] Encouraging one another in love, urging each other to love and to do good to others;

[5] Satisfied that we have done everything possible to avoid sin and to help our brothers and sisters to remain strong in their faith. Then, praise God for what He is doing in our lives!

Id you don’t have an accountability partner, I pray that God will bring you another woman, like-minded as yourself, to you. I pray that this relationship will be an uplifting experience you you and your encouragement partner and that God will receive all the honor and Glory from this relationship.
