Discipleship at Home-Treasure Hunt

This month’s character focus was ALERTNESS. Each day this month, we have been praying about being more alert to things around us. And I have to say that it is happening.

Alertness means to be aware of the things that are happening around so you know how to react to them.

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.” John 10:10

The thief comes to rob us from the inheritance that we have from Jesus Christ as our Savior. Does it specifically say WHO the thief robs? No. But we know that “they” are Christians that Jesus may give abundant life to; which is the same who the thief wants to rob. Does that include our children? Absolutely it does!

As parents, we are to protect our children! Our children need to realize they have an enemy…. a REAL enemy who by the Word of God, wants to kill and destroy them. I am not saying you need rush into their bedrooms late night and frighten them to death. In this day and age, our children to be able to stand strong and not waver.

Our children need to know what to be looking for and what is the precious things we must guard and protect. For this reason, I thoroughly enjoyed doing this Treasure Hunt with my daughter!

Alertness -vs- Unawareness

We searched the Scriptures to find things that we are to “BEWARE” of:

Matthew 7:15
Luke 12:1
Luke 12:15
Col 2:8
Phil 3:2
II Peter 3:17

Then, we searched for things we are required to “PROTECT“:

Eph 5:16
Prov 5:11
Prov 5:10 and Prov 6:26
Isa 59:2
Prov 16:28
Prov 11:6
Rev 3:11

Leave me a post telling me what you think about this TREASURE HUNT!
