Run time: 60 minutes
Dave Macaulay as the narrator does a wonderful job in describing and showing concepts and techniques that are understandable and interesting. The movie begins with several ancient Roman cities such as Pompeii, Ostia and Herculaneum. Dave explains the way the city was laid out and how important the different aspects of arches and concrete was. He even explains how the aqueducts, bathhouses, water and sewer systems along with theaters were designed. Throughout the movie, there are clips of animation, cartoon story aspect, that are effective comprehension techniques.
Overall, it is an excellent explanations of the people, culture, politics, and the architecture of that time. Makes learning history more interesting!
I would recommend this video to compliment your Ancient History lessons such as is offered in Mystery of History or other history curriculum where Ancient Rome is discussed.
